Things To Do

Exmoor National Park
Exmoor National Park was created in 1954. It has stunning landscapes and is one of Britain’s hidden treasures. The Red deer and Exmoor ponies are just a couple of the things that make Exmoor special.

There is so much to do one visit will not be enough. There is plenty available for the keen walker, and for the less adventurous guided walks are available, see Exmoor National Park website.

West Somerset Steam Railway
We are an excellent choice for the Steam Railway enthusiast as we are close to the West Somerset Steam Railway. The West Somerset Railway seeks to recreate the atmosphere of a Great Western Railway branch line. There are ten restored stations along the route, many have signal boxes, engine sheds, museums, displays, steam engines and other rolling stock to see.

The Quantocks
The Quantocks offer excellent walking with a network of rights of way, which can be found marked on Ordinance Survey Map Explorer 140.

At certain times of the year the Rangers also organise guided walks. More information on the Quantocks can be found at www.quantockhills.com

Dunster is home to a wide range of events and activities over the course of the year. Dunster by Candle, the annual Christmas shopping event, attracts visitors from all over the country to browse Dunster's unique blend of arts, crafts and gifts.

Wimbleball Lake
Wimbleball Lake is without doubt one of Exmoor's greatest assets and since the reservoir's creation, in the mid 1970s, the 374 acres of water have been a magnet for watersports lovers.

Set in some typically beautiful Exmoor scenery, the views at Wimbleball are stunning all year round, attracting sailors, canoeists, rowers, windsurfers, anglers, walkers, bird watchers. Wimbleball Lake is managed by South West Lakes Trust who have responsibility for 53 lakes in the south west of England. The SWLT centre is RYA and AALA approved and provides tuition, hire and launch for windsurfing, canoeing and sailing, with wetsuits and buoyancy aids if needed, to the general public most days from Easter to the end of October.
